Sailing in the Canary Islands

A sailing vacation in the Canary Islands is the perfect escape from the cold European winter. We usually start in Radazul on Tenerife and set course for the neighboring island of La Gomera. The area is more challenging than the Mediterranean: here you can feel the long swell of the Atlantic and use the trade winds for sailing. The acceleration zones ("jets") between the islands, where the wind can really pick up, are particularly exciting. This makes the trip ideal for active sailors who like to be sporty. But don't worry: in the evenings we are safely moored in sheltered marinas or quiet bays, where you can enjoy tapas and Canarian potatoes (papas arrugadas).

The route offers spectacular natural contrasts. On Tenerife, we sail along the west coast, past the impressive rock faces of Los Gigantes. The view of the Teide volcano, the highest mountain in Spain, from the water is unforgettable. The crossing to La Gomera is often the highlight for animal lovers: the probability of seeing dolphins or pilot whales is extremely high here! Once you arrive on La Gomera, a relaxed island atmosphere awaits you in San Sebastian. A rental car excursion into the green laurel forest of the Garajonay National Park offers a welcome change from life on board.
